RTP (return to player)
Industry and product terms
Definition
The long-run percentage of wagered money a game returns to players — a 96% RTP game keeps 4% over millions of spins. RTP describes the game over time, not your session, and it is the honest way to read "this machine pays out."

The original definition and sourcing warnings are retained. These sources support only the claims identified below, not necessarily the full entry.
- Return to player — how much gaming machines payout
Supports: Defines percentage RTP for gaming machines as the portion of money paid to play that is returned as prizes and explains that it is an average over many plays, not a prediction for one session.
Remaining evidence gap: The statement that RTP is the honest way to read a payout claim is editorial. The source concerns gaming machines under Great Britain’s regulator and does not establish rules for every game or US jurisdiction.
