Apps for gambling addiction recovery: nine recovery apps compared (October 2026)
"Apps for gambling addiction recovery" is a different search from "gambling blocker." A blocker stops the next bet; a recovery app is for the other twenty-three hours — the urge at 9 p.m., the day-thirty wobble, the question of what to do with the time and the shame. This page lists the iPhone apps we found whose listings describe a recovery program or companion for gambling specifically (not a general sobriety counter and not a pure blocker), with the facts the App Store publishes and what each listing says the app does. We make one of these. It is in the table and it is not ranked first.
How to read this table
Developer, release dates and rating counts come from the U.S. App Store, retrieved October 4, 2026, and are refreshed monthly. "What the listing says it does" is paraphrased from each app's own description; we have not tested every feature of every app. Some of these apps are free to download and sell a subscription inside; whether a feature needs one is on each App Store page.

What the table shows
Three shapes of recovery app. Structured programs — RecoverMe's six CBT sessions, Evive's lessons and daily check-ins — are closest to what a counselor would recognize. Companions (Cashed Out, NEVRR, Yume, Quit Gambling: Stop addiction, Still, Betttr) wrap a streak in daily tools — urge tools, journals, lessons, AI or human support, community — and five of the six now include a blocker. Gambling Addiction Calendar is the older shape: a counter with extras, last updated in March 2023.
Ask who built it. RecoverMe says it was designed with psychologists and psychiatrists. Evive says it was built by people in recovery and U.S. gambling support experts. Yume says its coaches have beaten gambling themselves, and Betttr says it was built by people who have practiced recovery. The other listings don't say.
Ask what happens on a bad night. Every listing mentions urges; the question is what the app actually does at 9 p.m. — a breathing exercise, a chat (with a person or an AI), a button that texts a friend, a call to a helpline, a community thread. The National Problem Gambling Helpline is 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738), call or text, 24/7.
None of these is treatment. Most states fund problem-gambling services; our Gambling Harm Index records, state by state, what each state funds and what it publishes about it — and 17 states publish nothing. Self-exclusion, the bar you enroll in with your state or an operator, is listed route by route in our self-exclusion directory.
Apps we left out
General sobriety apps that list gambling as one habit among many; pure blockers without a recovery layer (compared on our free alternatives to Gamban page and on Gamban vs BetBlocker vs Betttr); sports-betting-specific apps (on our apps to stop sports betting page); and apps with no U.S. listing or no description. The full list is in our quit-gambling apps roundup.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best apps for gambling addiction recovery?
For a structured program, RecoverMe (six CBT sessions) or Evive (free; lessons, check-ins and community). For a daily companion that pairs a streak with urge tools and a blocker, Cashed Out, NEVRR, Still or Betttr — which we make. A blocker, one of these, and a person — a counselor, a group, or the helpline — each cover different hours of the day.
Are gambling recovery apps free?
Evive's listing says it is completely free, with no subscriptions. Several are free to download and sell a subscription inside; NEVRR's and Still's listings say a subscription is required for the app or its premium features. This page does not list prices because they change.
Do these apps replace Gamblers Anonymous or counseling?
None of them says it does; NEVRR's listing, for one, calls it a self-help tool, not medical treatment. Most states fund problem-gambling services; our Gambling Harm Index shows what each state funds and publishes.
