Prediction market (event contract)

Industry and product terms

Definition

A regulated exchange where people trade contracts on whether an event will happen, including sports outcomes and elections. NCPG has raised consumer-protection concerns because these contracts are supervised as financial products, which means state gambling protections — including state self-exclusion — generally do not apply.

Preferred phrasing

name the gap explicitly: "prediction markets, which state self-exclusion does not currently cover."
